As far as summer blockbusters go, you gotta somewhat admire “Edge Of Tomorrow” for presenting audiences with a movie that takes some explaining to get the premise across. Well, Warner Bros. is doing all they can to make it clear by dropping an extended, nearly four-minute-long trailer for the sci-fi flick.
Tom Cruise leads the movie as a soldier tasked with saving Earth from a lot of bad alien things, but there’s just one problem: he kinda sucks at it. But luckily, he has a quirk where every time he dies, he comes back to life (kinda like a Nintendo cheat code), with Emily Blunt on hand to keep training him until he can kick some ass. Pretty novel concept, and Doug Liman (“The Bourne Identity“) seems to be having a lot of fun with all kinds of money and special effects at his disposal.
