Watch: First NSFW International Trailer For Thomas Vinterberg’s ‘The Commune’

The CommuneLet me just get one thing out of the way — one of the most underrated and perhaps overlooked movies of the year is Thomas Vinterberg‘s "Far From The Madding Crowd," so now that it’s on home video and digital, don’t sleep on it. And the filmmaker, who seems to be busier than ever these days, already has his next movie in the can, and the first international trailer is here, which means sorry, no subtitles

Vinterberg’s latest is "The Commune," and it finds him in a different mode from the provocative "The Hunt," and his Thomas Hardy adaptation, with the story following a couple who set up a commune in Copenhagen. "The most particular difference is that I’ve been writing it myself. It’s in more of a sort of auteur kind of tradition," Vinterberg told us earlier this spring. "It was great fun. It is quite a fun movie….It’s inspired by my own upbringing in a commune. It’s a funny and warm film about the pain of replacing each other. Divorces, stuff like that."

Starring Ulrich Thomsen, Trine Dyrholm, Helene Reingaard Neumann, Lars Ranthe, Fares Fares and more, "The Commune" opens in Denmark on January 14, 2016 which means that, rather surprisingly, there will be no Cannes or Berlin bow for the picture. No word yet on a U.S. distributor. Watch the trailer below. Update 10/30: Now with English subtitles!
