Watch: First Trailer For Jemaine Clement & Taika Waititi’s Vampire Comedy ‘What We Do In The Shadows’

What We Do In The Shadows

While his “Flight of the Conchords” partner Bret McKenzie has been winning an Oscar and showing up in a very small blink-and-you’ll-miss-it role in “The Hobbit” movies, Jemaine Clement hasn’t exactly been resting on his laurels either, playing the big bad in “Men in Black 3” and doing some voice-over work in the kid-targeting “Rio” movies. He’s also been hard at work at co-directing the vampire comedy “What We Do In The Shadows” with Taika Waititi, and now the first trailer has arrived to draw some first blood.

Running over two minutes long, the trailer does a great job at selling the off-center sense of humor that made Hollywood take notice of Clement. The first thing you notice right off the bat (ha!) is that the film is yet another entry into the mockumentary genre but as we noted in our SXSW review, the film absolutely follows through on its premise and aesthetic, which is more than other entries in the genre can say. In short, “it’s a total hoot.”

“What We Do In The Shadows” will see a release in New Zealand next month, with the rest of the world still without a firm release date. Watch the trailer below.
