Watch: Gustavo Santaolalla Talks His Career, Politics, Punk Rock & More In 17-Minute Interview

Gustavo Santaolalla

While Gustavo Santaolalla is largely known for his film composition work, which has bagged him two Oscars for “Brokeback Mountain” and “Babel,” his career and life is one that is worthy of a movie itself. But until that happens, this conversation will suffice.

The composer stopped by CBC‘s “Q with Jian Ghomeshi” to talk about his current stage production “Arrabel,” but the talk that followed went deep into Santaolalla’s history. From his days playing fusion in Argentina, to punk rock in Los Angeles to producing a variety of best-selling records and releasing his own music, Santaolalla also talks about Argentina’s political landscape which informed both his musical and personal life and much more. It’s a fascinating talk that’s well worth a watch, especially if you’re a fan of his work.
