Let’s say when you were younger you played in a rock ‘n roll band that was modestly successfully, but that life was traded in for a stable job, marriage, children and life in the suburbs. Would you want to revisit that old spark of youth, or is the enriching life of family enough to make up for that gap? That’s one of the central questions in “Breathe In,” the new drama from “Like Crazy” writer/director Drake Doremus. And another new peek at the movie has arrived.
In this two-minute clip, we see Guy Pearce‘s Keith talking with his wife Megan (Amy Ryan) as he revisits his old cassette tapes, about perhaps diving back into the music game. Clearly, they are not on the same page, and when you add the beautiful, young exchange student Sophie (Felicity Jones), who is a window into what his life perhaps could be or could have been, it’s an explosive mix. And indeed, the movie is strong, with our review out of Sundance noting that within it contains an “intensity and tension that’s emotionally bruising.”
“Breathe In” opens on VOD and in theaters in the U.K. on July 19th. No word yet on the U.S. release date. Watch the clip and check out some new pics below.
