Watch: 'I Spit On Your Grave 2' Actually Exists & Now Has A Trailer

nullSo “Red 2” opened this weekend, made less than its predecessor and proved that not everything needs a sequel and that sometimes, once is enough for an audience. But at least one could understand why that film was made at all, with the first one bringing in just a shade under $200 million worldwide. But here’s the thing about the 2010 remake of “I Spit On Your Grave“— nobody cared. Critics savaged it and audiences didn’t really want to see a movie about a young woman getting raped and then torturing a bunch of guys to death. It brought in just over $570,000 worldwide. And yet somehow, this screams franchise! for Anchor Bay.

And thus, a direct-to-video sequel is on the way, that like the forthcoming “Fright Night 2,” features none of the original cast and has a hard time justifying its existence.  But for the sake of continuity, or perhaps because he had nothing better to do, original helmer Steven R. Monroe is back to find new ways to terrorize a young woman, and fresh methods to allow her to thoroughly get rid of the men who wronged her. It looks pretty cheap and dumb, but in case you care, the offenders this time seem to be sleazy photographers instead of backwoods rednecks. Progress.

“I Spit On Your Grave 2” arrives on home video on September 24th.
