Watch: Infiltrate & Obliterate With New Clip & 2 TV Spots For Zal Batmanglij’s ‘The East’ Starring Brit Marling

The East, Brit MarlingWhile this summer will see big films like “Pacific Rim,” “Elyisum” and “Man Of Steel” stomping their way into theaters. they’ll be brushing elbows with indies like the latest film from Sundance darlings Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, the thriller “The East.” And Fox Searchlight has released a new clip alongside two new TV spots.

Co-written by Marling and Batmanglij, the thriller follows Marling as a private intelligence firm operative who infiltrates an anarchist organization led by Alexander Skarsgard and begins to question her ideals. The clip focuses on Marling changing her appearance in the lead up to her undercover assignment alongside a speech made by Patricia Clarkson to potential clients. Lean and mean, this looks like a no-frills thriller in the vein of Paul Greengrass’ work on the ‘Bourne’ films.

Next up are two effective, if a bit disorientating, TV spots that do a nice job of drawing you in without giving away too much of the story. Check out the spots and the clip below and catch “The East” when it hits theaters in limited release on May 31st.
