Easily one of the most divisive films of last year, Nicolas Winding Refn‘s decadently minimal “Only God Forgives” didn’t hold back when it came to gore. Though it moved at its own deliberate pace and gave Ryan Gosling as little to say as possible, when violence arrived, it was unflinching.
And sometimes, it can be easy to forget the amount of work it takes to make something look nauseatingly real, but in case you need a reminder, a pretty bloody and intense VFX reel for the film has made it online. Driven by Cliff Martinez‘s excellent score, the montage highlights scenes both big and small from the movie (and duh, spoilers) showing how various appendages were removed, wounds were opened and blood spattered, depending on the scene. We kinda forgot how brutal “Only God Forgives” was, but here’s a reminder. [Rope Of Silicon]
