Super Bowl Sunday is America’s annual day of feasting, napping between plays, wondering what the hell is happening in the halftime show, and of course, taking in as much advertising as is humanly possible. Big studios roll out shiny new trailers for their expensive blockbusters, snack companies hope to make you hungry for their latest calorie-busting concoction, and Jeff Bridges wants to put you to sleep. Wait, what?
Yep, the actor, who also plays music on the side, has a new album coming out called Jeff Bridges Sleeping Tapes, and no, this is not a joke, and yes, this is real. The album, as you might guess, is designed — through ambient sounds, music and even some of the soothing tones of Bridges himself talking — to help you get a good night’s rest. The album is now available via pay-what-you-can downloads, with a limited number of physical copies too, with sales going to the charity Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry. So all this sleeping is for a good cause, and when was the last time you could say that?
“It can be used as a sleep aid but I like listening to the album anytime,” Bridges told The Wall Street Journal. “I just dig the sounds, stories and vibe.”
To get the word out, a Super Bowl spot has been made to promote the album, and you can watch it below. Bridges plays a flute in it, so…yeah, you kinda have to watch it.
