Watch: John Travolta Hunts Robert De Niro In Trailer For 'Killing Season'

nullFor a movie that has been in the works for a while, at one time set to re-team “Face/Off” duo Nicolas Cage and John Travolta with John McTiernan directing, the final result here is pretty dismal. Cage was swapped with Robert De Niro (which these days hardly means anything since they both choose awful projects), and the director’s chair was vacated by McTiernan and filled with Mark Steven Johnson — aka the guy behind “Daredevil” and “Ghost Rider” — and so now we have…this….

A trailer has wormed its way online for “Killing Season,” formerly known as “Shrapnel,” and it’s pretty terrible and cheap looking, even by the sometimes low standards of Millenium Films. Travolta, with something stuck to his chin and a vague Eastern European accent, plays a former Serbian soldier who has a score settle with an American trooper, and thus begins lots of shots of De Niro diving out of the way of things, with explosions and ominous, generic music. So yeah, looks like another paycheck for these guys and rental fodder forever.

“Killing Season” goes VOD (shocker) and opens in limited release on July 12th. [Christians Foyer]
