Watch: New Clip From ‘Blue Jasmine,’ Louis C.K. Talks Potential Movie With Woody Allen

Blue Jasmine Cate Blanchett Alec Baldwin

Woody Allen is a man of many movies (49, to be exact) and of many muses – Diane Keaton, Mia Farrow, Scarlett Johansson – but although Cate Blanchett is his latest leading lady, in “Blue Jasmine,” which arrives Friday, it seems that for once in his life Woody has gotten himself inspired by a man; specifically, the very funny man that is Louis CK.

CK’s part in “Blue Jasmine” is by all accounts not an especially big one, but it’s clear that Allen and he hit it off big time – so much so that Allen recently said
that he was considering teaming up with comic actor on a movie project. It’s a prospect that clearly makes CK giddy with excitement, and it’s no wonder a quick look at CK’s twin comedic fascinations with sex and self-doubt makes it pretty clear that he owes a considerable debt of inspiration to Allen. CK recently shared his experience of working with Allen on “Blue Jasmine” with the New York Times (via Vulture) and talked briefly about their potential future collaboration:

“I had this three-day part and I figured I’m a tourist on this movie. All I want is a little Woody moment to take home with me. It was so fun, and we had lunch, and I thought having lunch with him was my rewarding moment. And then after lunch, we shot one more scene and I got a big laugh on the set, and I thought, that’s my Woody moment,” Louis CK shared. “He had said, ‘I want to talk to you for a minute,’ and I thought, what’s Woody going to ask me for? If he wanted to put me in another movie, he would just call my people. It wouldn’t go down like that. What’s the biggest thing I could hope for? My expectations could only go down. I thought, O.K., he has a nephew who wants to be an intern on my show. Or he wants to ask me about Web sites because he feels like he should get into the Internet and it’s a little mysterious for him. Then he pulled me aside and he said, ‘Listen, I wanted to ask you if you’d be interested in something. What if we were in a movie together, you and me?’ I said, ‘Of course I’d love to do that.’ And he said, ‘Could you do it next summer?’ which is now, and I said, ‘Sure, no problem.’ I was restraining myself.”

Any such film, if it does come to pass, would be at very least Allen’s 51st, given that he already has his 50th, due for release in 2014 and starring Emma Stone and Colin Firth,
but it’s an exciting idea. In the meantime, here’s one more clip from “Blue Jasmine,” showing us Blanchett and her husband, played by Alec Baldwin.
