If you believe that Disney‘s "Cinderella" needed to be retold in an eye-meltingly glossy live action version, and powered by Ellie Goulding‘s "My Blood," then perhaps you are looking forward to the mouse house’s latest brand extension. If not, you may start wondering how anybody thought this was a good idea, as a new trailer for the endeavor has landed.
Even a bunch of promos in, Lily James and Richard Madden are aggressively bland in the lead roles of the lowly Cinderella, who scrubs laundry in the kind of picaresque setting where most people try to vacation, and the prince, who walks around sets borrowed from "Oz The Great And Powerful." Their love is forbidden until something about a glass slipper and destiny and midnight or whatever. You know where this goes.
"Cinderella" waves a wand on March 13th. And yeah, Cate Blanchett is in this too.
