Got a Tip?

Watch: New TV Spots For ‘Man Of Steel,’ ‘World War Z,’ ‘The Heat’ & ‘Iron Man 3’

nullTime to take a look at some new TV spots for four of the summer’s big upcoming movies.

First up is a new look at Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” which, if you believe the buzz, is going to be quite something indeed. Teases like this 30-second spot aren’t going to dispel any of that buzz despite not showing a lot of new footage. That’s because everything we are seeing still looks suitably epic, and there’s that extra bit of confidence every time Christopher Nolan’s name pops up in every single piece of marketing material. Color us still excited for the movie, which will be released on June 14th.

With tales of a troubled production, a director who hasn’t handled action all that well in the past and a few uninspiring trailers so far, color us distinctly less excited for Marc Forster’s “World War Z.” Given the immense popularity of AMC’s “The Walking Dead“ on television, it still seems strange to us that “World War Z” seems at pains to hide the fact that it’s a zombie movie, and that’s still the case in this spot. Again it’s all footage we’ve seen before, and so we’re just left shrugging all over again. The film debuts a week after “Man of Steel” on June 21st…oh dear…

A complete change of pace now with a trailer for Paul Feig’s “Bridesmaids” follow-up, “The Heat.” This one arrives in theaters a week after “World War Z,” but we’re a lot more confident that this will prove a counter-programming hit. Whether it’s funny remains to be seen, but we enjoyed this brief glimpse at the movie and there’s nothing we’ve seen so far to suggest that it won’t be. Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock pairing up sounds like a great idea on paper at least, and with “Parks & Recreation” writer Katie Dippold having penned the script, we’re enthusiastic about this one too.

Lastly, Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” is in the home stretch with the release date just weeks away internationally (April 27th), so it gets a spot jam packed with action and selling the sizzle. The movie will be kicking off Marvel Phase Two so expectations are high, but really, as long as it’s better than “Iron Man 2” everyone will be happy. Tony Stark and friends are back on U.S. shores on May 3rd. Watch all the spots below.
