While it may seem that the geek set is kinda cool on "The Amazing Spider-Man," let's just keep a couple of things in mind. First, Sony opened "Men In Black III" to over $200 million worldwide this weekend, with the movie topping the box office in 104 countries. And based on that, don't discount the studio's ability to nab the younger crowd — who they are clearly going for — and pile 'em into theaters on the long Fourth of July weekend. 'Spider-Man' is hardly down for the count, and his newest Aussie trailer shows it has a few more tricks up its sleeve.
Featuring some new footage — including a pretty nifty little scene of Spider-Man tossing Gwen Stacy out of a window — this international trailer actually seems to balance the grit and lighter sense of humor much better than what we've seen so far. It could be that, or maybe we're just beaten down enough already by the trailers to make peace with what's coming. But if anything, this spot mostly steers away from the "origin story" angle that Sony first tried to go with, and delivers more of the action beats they hope audiences will be wanting to fork over their hard earned cash for.
"The Amazing Spider-Man" opens on July 3rd. Watch below.
