New decade, new rules, same boring story.
Yep, after a shorter trailer for the upcoming “Scream 4” made the rounds not too long ago, Dimension Films have unveiled a longer, full length spot with lots of new scenes but not much in the way of new ideas. The original cast is back: David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox— plus the fresh meat Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell along with more newcomers like Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Marley Shelton, Adam Brody, Anthony Anderson and Alison Brie. The the whole premise has been given an eye-winking contemporary spin but this whole effort pretty much feels two steps away from being a “Scary Movie” entry. The production on this one was fraught as well with Kevin Williamson leaving the film in a huff, being replaced by Ehren Kruger whose script rewrites apparently caused Lauren Graham to leave the film and left Hayden Panettiere frustrated with the changes in her character.
Anyway, if you get a thrill of being able to go “ooooh, I recognize that reference/movie they’re talking about” you can can catch “Scream 4” when it hits on April 15th. Trailer below.
