Watch: Soaring Trailer For Terrence Malick's 'To The Wonder' With Ben Affleck, Olga Kurylenko & Javier Bardem

Terence Malick's "To The Wonder"If you weren’t one of those who saw the film in Venice or Toronto this year, you’ve likely seen very little of Terrence Malick‘s “To The Wonder,” the director’s uncharacteristically fast-in-arriving follow-up to his wildly acclaimed “The Tree Of Life.” Two images from the film have been released, but those who’ve been avoiding the reviews might not yet have much of an idea of what to expect.

But that’s just about to change, as The Guardian have the first UK trailer for the film, and it’s a doozy. Packed full of Malick’s sweeping, restless Emmanuel Lubezki-aided imagery, set to an excellently chosen piece of music that we can’t quite identify (it’s not, as far as we can remember, from the film, so let us know if you know what it is), it does a pretty good job of selling the film — which revolves around a love triangle between Ben Affleck‘s Malick surrogate, his French girlfriend, Olga Kurylenko, and his childhood sweetheart, Rachel McAdams, with Javier Bardem also featuring as a faith-stricken priest — without being dishonest about what the film is .

“To The Wonder” got a notably more hostile reception on the festival circuit than many of Malick’s films, but we personally loved it; as you can tell from our Venice review, we’d go to bat for the picture against “The Tree Of Life,” even. But you’ll be able to get a hint of what to expect from the trailer below, and find out for yourself when the film opens in the UK on February 22nd, and in the U.S. on April 12th.
