Watch: Subtitled Trailer For Guillaume Canet’s ‘Little White Lies’ Starring Marion Cotillard

After hitting the festival circuit last year and wowing audiences in its native France where it was one of the country’s highest earning films last year, an English subtitled trailer for “Little White Lies” has finally arrived.

Directed by Guillaume Canet, best known for his arthouse crossover hit “Tell No One,” the film stars Marion Cotillard among an ensemble cast that includes François Cluzet, Benoit Magimel, Gilles Lellouche and Laurent Lafitte as a group of friends who decide to continue their tradition of an annual beach vacation that comes in the wake of a tragedy. The dramedy has drawn comparisons to “The Big Chill” and we’re eager to see it for ourselves having missed it at TIFF. The trailer hints at both the laughter and tears in the film and it plays well as a teaser, but if we had one issue with it, the Sigur Ros-aping generic music is irritating as hell.

The film, somewhat shockingly, is still without a U.S. distributor. It will hit theaters in the U.K. via Lionsgate on April 15th and cinemas in Canada later in the year via Maple Pictures. Trailer and synopsis below.

Every year Max (François Cluzet), a successful restaurant owner, invites his family and friends to his beautiful beach house. This year, before they leave Paris, one of the group (Jean Dujardin) is seriously hurt in a traumatic accident. The friends decide to go ahead with their holiday, but the accident sets off a dramatic chain of reactions and emotional responses.

The eagerly anticipated vacation leads each of the protagonists in turn to raise the veil that for years has covered their true feelings. Their relationships, convictions and friendships are sorely tested when finally forced to own up to the little white lies they have been telling each other.
