If you haven’t already, now is the time to start watching "The Leftovers." Don’t be afraid of the name Damon Lindelof hanging over the show, nor its unrelentingly grim tone. And while the premise — taking place three years following the mass disappearance of 2% of the world’s population— might seem "Lost"-esque, the execution is entirely different. And pay little mind to the pilot episode, easily the first season’s weakest offering. Get beyond those obstacles and you’ll find a fascinating character drama about loss and grief with quasi- supernatural elements.
HBO has just re-upped the show for a second season, so if you still need a push to catch up, here’s a quick way to get acquainted with "The Leftovers." Below you can watch a "catch up" trailer that doesn’t get into plot details so much as give you a sizzle reel of some of the show’s more dramatic moments (and spoiler alert, it contains some shots from this weekend’s crackerjack episode).
See what you’ve been missing below. "The Leftovers" airs on Sunday at 10 PM. Watch the trailer below and a preview for Episode 8.
