So “The Counselor” opened this weekend and flopped fairly hard, but don’t worry about Ridley Scott. Not only is he already in production on his Bible movie “Exodus,” as per usual, he’s got about a half billion projects coming up with his name stamped on them as an executive producer. And this one certainly has us a bit curious.
It kind of flew past our radar, but next year, Discovery Channel will dropping the event series “Klondike,” featuring “Game Of Thrones” star Richard Madden, Playlist fave Abbie Cornish, Tim Roth and Sam Shepard. Not a bad cast at all, and there’s certainly some colorful material to play with as the show is set against the backdrop of the Gold Rush. Here’s the official synopsis:
Klondike is an event mini-series of epic proportion inspired by the true stories of those who hunted for wealth and battled for survival in the brutal Yukon Territory. At the center of the action are Bill Haskell and Byron Epstein – childhood best friends who risk everything to pursue their dream of striking it rich during the 1890’s gold rush. Lured into this treacherous landscape by the prospect of riches, they endure the unforgiving elements and discover that the deadliest threats are always human.
Hinting at more sex and violence that we thought possible on Discovery, we’re curious to see how this shapes up. The three-part series (each segment is two hours) lands in January. Watch below.
