In case you haven’t guessed by now, we’re pretty big fans around here of “A Hijacking.” Our own Oli Lyttelton raved about the picture in his review when he saw it at the Venice Film Festival last summer, and yesterday we exclusively unveiled the U.S. poster for the movie. But for you readers in the U.K., you’re getting it a bit earlier than those of us stateside, and a new trailer has dropped which gives you a pretty good reason why you should buy a ticket.
Directed by Tobias Lindholm, (our interview is here) co-writer of Tomas Vinterberg‘s “The Hunt” and the acclaimed Danish political drama series “Borgen,” “A Hijacking” stars Pilou Asbæk and Søren Malling (both of “Borgen” as well; we also spoke to Malling), and tells the story of a Danish freighter that is boarded by Somali pirates who hold it for ransom. What emerges is a tense standoff as negotiations unfold between the CEO of the company that owns the vessel and the captors holding the crew hostage. And as you’ll see, the violence here is as emotional as it is physical.
But enough talk, give the spot a look below. “A Hijacking” opens on May 10th in the U.K. and June 14th in the U.S. [Live For Films]
