Emilia Clarke may be the “Game of Thrones” cast member with the highest profile film release this year —the much derided “Terminatory: Genisys”— but she’s not the only citizen of Westeros to appear on the big screen this summer. Kit Harington is co-starring in a WWI period piece called “Testament of Youth,” and a new U.S. trailer has arrived.
Based on Vera Brittain’s memoir, the film takes place during World War I and stars Alicia Vikander (“Ex Machina”) as a woman who drops out of Oxford to become a war nurse after her fiancé (Harington), brother and friends are sent to the front lines. It could make a welcome feminist-friendly respite during the hot summer months. Indeed, our review noted that it’s "beautifully observed."
“Testament of Youth” opens in limited release on June 5th before expanding. Watch the trailer below.
