With the news late last week that director Walter Hill's remake of “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” has found financing, that now makes two recent project yearning for better days. Gearing up for release next year, the Sylvester Stallone actioner “Bullet To The Head” has already shown via a first trailer that the film's has an uphill battle, but now a second look is hoping to reverse that perspective.
Fighting release date changes and conflicts within the editing bay, which led to rumors that Stallone had taken over post-production, 'Bullet' has never faced an easy road to release. Unfortunately, the footage seen thus far, and in this newest trailer and production pic, promises only to make “The Expendables 2” seem like a post-modern classic. With a tired story involving a New Orleans hitman teaming with a New York cop (Sung Kang) to wreak havoc on the men who killed their partners, the tone also appears to veer wildly between straight-faced action and simply execrable one-liners that simply don't register.
Co-starring Christian Slater and Jason Momoa in what seems to be the film's most compelling roles, “Bullet To The Head” nevertheless looks completely disposable, and only as an example of Hill's staid filmmaking when it's released February 1st, 2013. [MSN/Kinopoisk]
