While most films headed to the Cannes Film Festival prefer to tease just a little bit before they premiere, the team behind Park Chan-Wook‘s “The Handmaiden” have no such concerns. The trailers have been coming hard and fast, but this latest might just be the best one yet.

Starring Ha Jung-woo, Kim Min-hee, Jo Jin-woong and Kim Tae-ri, the director looks to have really put his own wicked mark on the Sarah Waters novel on which the film is based beyond just restaging the story in the 1930s. This story about the intersecting paths of a noble lady with a newly inherited fortune, her guardian and uncle, a swindler, and a pickpocket looks to be dripping in intrigue, danger, and even a little bit of kink.
Consider our excitement for this one stoked even further. And don’t fret if you’re not at Cannes — Amazon will be opening this one in the U.S. And in case you’re wondering, the song in the trailer, which you can watch up top, is “Red Sex” by Vessel. [The Film Stage]
