The old saying goes, “Timing is everything.” Well, if that’s the case, this probably isn’t the best timing for Marvel Studios to release a new season of the multiverse-iest multiverse show to ever multiverse, “What If…?” After nearly a full year of people complaining about the Multiverse Saga leading to superhero fatigue and the first signs of weakness in the giant that is Marvel Studios, it appears 2023 is going out with a bang.

As seen in the trailer for “What If…?” Season 2, we get a tease of what is to come in the upcoming nine episode batch. After Season 1, we already know what to expect with this animated series. Each episode is mostly self-contained, telling a very unique story that exists somewhere in the MCU multiverse. Each story comes from answering a basic question, “What If…?” Apparently, that answer in Season 2 leads to some crazy situations involving some sort of “Mad Max”-esque death race, the return of Hela, a team-up between the older generation of legacy heroes, and a brand-new character that has never before been seen in any Marvel product—including comic books.

The second season of “What If…?” debuts on December 22 with a new episode arriving each day after until all nine episodes have been released. You can watch the trailer below.
