Will Arnett Thinks 'Arrested Development' Inching Forward News Is Ridiculous Too; 'Tron 2' Budget Debunked As BS

Will Arnett recently talked about the “Arrested Development” movie but don’t expect to be enlightened with anything we didn’t know already. In fact he’s finally said aloud what we’ve all already been thinking. “God, I’ve never known a movie whose every step of development has been as closely followed. This movie’s gonna be such a disaster,” he laughed. [MTV]

Former “The Flash” helmer Shawn Levy (“Night At The Museum,””Cheaper By The Dozen”) admits that he was not the right man for the job: “It’s a thing I’d love to try my hand at, but as I look at the work of guys like [Jon] Favreau, [Christopher] Nolan and Zack Snyder, it occurs to me that there are guys who are genuinely naturals at those sort of films. And I may or may not have that muscle.” Gotta love a hack that knows his limitations. [MTV]

As predicted (big fucking surprise) reports of the “Tron 2” budget being in excess of $300 million have been debunked as total BS even in Canadian dollars. So Daft Punk wasn’t asking for too much money. [/Film]

Ever wondered what Eminem’s “8 Mile” might be like if it was set in Germany? Well, wonder no more; Berlin-based rapper, Bushido, will be starring his very own biopic created by the filmmakers behind the Academy Award-nominated controversial German film, “The Baader Meinhof Complex” (which still hasn’t come out in the U.S.). Unlike most rappers though, Bushido was a high school dropout turned drug dealer before he gained attention for his musical exploits. Oh, wait. [Variety]

On “Real Time With Bill Maher,” Ron Howard revealed that he declined offers to helm the current “Spiderman” and “Batman” franchises. Howard and Maher then proceeded to insult the nature of comic book films and their fans before Howard stopped to defend the third ‘Spiderman’ film: “Not the ‘Spiderman’ that my daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard, was in. Don’t we all love that one?” [MTV]

How to piss off the usually amiable Robert Downey Jr.
First Journalist: I’ve got to ask. What do you think Lincoln O’Siris [Downey Jr.’s character’s in “Tropic Thunder”] would think of Jamie [Foxx]’s performance in [“The Soloist”]?
Robert Downey Jr.: Next question.
Robert Downey Jr.: By the way I could just say that to all them.
First Journalist: Do you think he’d approve?
Robert Downey Jr.: I have no idea how to even begin answering that question. And by the way—I want to have a good time. I want to have a great time, just that one tied my fucking shoelaces together right off the bat. What else you got?
Second Journalist: So I’ll kiss your ass and maybe it’ll be better.
Robert Downey Jr.: I don’t think that’s the answer either. Yeah, you do your thing and I’ll do mine. [Movieline]

After being ruled out of contention for lead in “Thor,” Channing Tatum is now eyeing talking aloud about the title role in Marvel’s upcoming “The First Avenger: Captain America.” He says friends have told him he’d be perfect for the role, but he think Will Smith might be better. Dude might want to reconsider the self-PR role. [MTV]
