‘Wolf Man’ Trailer: Julie Garner & Christopher Abbott Star In Leigh Whannell’s Blumhouse Horror Thriller

Who can forget Universal’s ill-fated Dark Universe that failed right out of the gate with “The Mummy” starring Tom Cruise, despite having announced an entire cast to play Universal monster characters like Bride Of Frankenstein, Creature From The Black Lagoon and more (with a starry cast that included Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp and more). Thankfully, Blumhouse, the independent horror studio set up at Universal, took over the Monsterverse and successfully relaunched it with the terrific horror thriller, “The Invisible Man.” And that director, Leigh Whannell (“Upgrade”), returns to Blumhouse and the Monserverse for the upcoming “Wolf Man” movie.

Originally slated to be a vehicle for Ryan Gosling, with filmmaker Derek Cianfrance at the helm, he steps aside and instead acts as an executive producer.

Directed by acclaimed writer and filmmaker Leigh Whannell, “Wolfman” stars Golden Globe and Emmy-winning actress Julie Garner (“Ozark”) and Golden Globe nominee Christopher Abbott (“Poor Things”). Sam Jaeger and Matilda Firth are also featured in the cast, but it mostly sounds like a two-hander between Garner and Abbott.

Here’s the official synopsis;

Wolf Man is the blood-chilling reimagining of the classic monster pic that will leave you on the edge of your seat as you witness a man and his family being stalked and terrorized by a lethal predator.

“Wolf Man” is written by Whannell & Corbett Tuck and Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo (“Dumb Money”). Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner, and Whannell are executive producers. “Wolf Man” is a Blumhouse and Motel Movie production, and Universal will release the film on January 17, 2025.
