It’s been a bit of journey for “Wilson” to the big screen. Originally developed as a project for Alexander Payne, the director eventually moved on with Craig Johnson (“The Skeleton Twins“) stepping in. Woody Harrelson lined up the lead role, and now Daniel Clowes‘s acclaimed comic is coming to life in what looks like a great part for the actor to play.

Co-starring Laura Dern, Judy Greer, Cheryl Hines, and Isabella Amara, the movie follows a middle-aged man whose life begins turn around when he meets his teenage daughter. Here’s the official synopsis:
Harrelson stars as Wilson, a lonely, neurotic and hilariously honest middle-aged misanthrope who reunites with his estranged wife (Laura Dern) and gets a shot at happiness when he learns he has a teenage daughter (Isabella Amara) he has never met. In his uniquely outrageous and slightly twisted way, he sets out to connect with her.
“Wilson” opens on March 24, 2017.
