‘X-Men ’97’ Final Trailer: Tons Of Action-Packed Goodness

Still riding high with a 98% Rotten Tomatoes score, Marvel’sX-Men ’97” has arguably been one of the most positively talked about Marvel series in recent months, with fans seemingly loving the week-to-week release model, which has kept trending on social media. And so, with an explosive three-part finale starting with this week’s “Tolerance Is Extinction, Part 1,” Marvel Studios has released a series finale trailer to stoke fans’ excitement further.

The most recent teaser for the animated series, which debuted on Monday and previews the last few episodes of season one, features a meta and lighthearted dig at live-action films.

When tossed his colorful costume, the character Cable scoffs, “Am I going to war or a circus?” to which Cyclops, replies, “what did you expect, black leather?”

It’s a clear reference to the 2000 film “X-Men,” where Hugh Jackman’s character Wolverine is adjusting to his new black leather super suit as he embarks on the team’s first mission.

In the movie, Wolverine asks, “Do you actually go outside in these things?”

“Which would you prefer? “Yellow spandex?” James Marsden’s Cyclops replies. Fans will surely love these meta in-jokes.

In last week’s suspenseful episode, “Bright Eyes,” Theo James made a vocal appearance as Bastion, the man quietly manipulating events. Though the trailer primarily serves as a look back at the show’s achievements and some superlative quotes, the latest teaser provides some teases about what’s to come in the next episodes.
