About a decade ago, Ti West was a director to watch in the horror genre thanks to 2009’s “The House Of The Devil” and 2011’s “The Innkeepers.” West hasn’t been up to much since the commercial failure of 2016’s “In A Valley Of Violence,” though. Since that film, West has stuck to directing episodes of various TV series like “Scream,” “The Exorcist,” and “Them.”

Now, West returns to the big screen with an all-new horror film under the illustrious A24 banner. From the looks of things, “X” is West’s comedic mash-up of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” with a sexploitation twist. Â
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast soon finds themselves in a desperate fight for their lives.
“X” stars Mia Goth, Scream Queen-in-the-making Jenny Ortega, Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi for you rap fans out there), and Brittany Snow. Owen Campbell, Stephen Ure, and Martin Henderson round out the main cast.
West shot “X” in North Island, New Zealand, instead of Texas, early last year.  Where will “X” fall on the spectrum of A24 horror closers–closer to Ari Aster‘s “Hereditary” and “Midsommar” or more toward Kevin Smith‘s “Tusk“? Audiences find out on March 18, when the film hits theaters. Check out the trailer below.
