Got a Tip?

Year’s Worst Movie Tops The $1 Billion Dollar Mark; Bad Conversion 3D Here To Stay

Sigh… Congratulations to the yobs out there who contributed to this one, and approximately 60% of those aforementioned boobs are the people outside North America.

Tim Burton’s “Alice In Wonderland” — the front-runner for The Playlist team’s worst film of 2010 so far; it makes “Clash of The Titans” look like masterpiece theater — has crossed the $1 billion mark, joining an exclusive club that includes six other films. (The film grossed $332 million in North America and around $667 million internationally — just think of all the good films you could make with that money.)

It is also the third most popular non-sequel in motion picture history behind only “Titanic” and “Avatar.”

What does this mean? Well for one, 3D ain’t going away any time soon and neither is shitty last-minute conversion 3D. Oh, and you know also what isn’t going away? Tim Burton’s wacky and fancifully inventive, magically dark films.
