With Bruce Willis getting some of the best reviews of his career with "Looper," it seems as good a time as any for the star to return to his most famous role, as John McClane. And right on cue, the first trailer for the fifth installment of the 'Die Hard' franchise, "A Good Day to Die Hard," has arrived online via Yahoo.
Starring Willis alongside "Spartacus" star Jai Courtney as his son Jack, as well as Sebastian Koch, Cole Hauser, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anne Vyalitsyna and Julia Snigir, the film sees McClane and son in Moscow, grappling with some bad guys of indeterminate origins and motivations (at least at this stage). The trailer doesn't reveal much about plot, but the press release does say that of Courtney's character "Jack may even be more of a hardass than his father. Despite their differences, they must work together to keep each other alive – and the world safe for democracy.”
We'd been somewhat dreading this, mainly thanks to journeyman helmer John Moore ("Max Payne," "Behind Enemy Lines"), but the trailer's kind of fun — thanks to the use of "Ode To Joy," it feels much more like a 'Die Hard' movie than the dismal last installment, "Live Free and Die Hard," although the action seems to be as big, if not bigger in scope. The tone seems to be more playful than that rather dour film, and we're refreshingly free of car vs. helicopter/harrier jet surfing antics. We're not 100% sold on it, but we're certainly feeling a little bit better about the whole proposition.
'AGDTDH' lands in theaters February 4, 2013. Watch the trailer below.
