'Your Monster' Trailer: Melissa Barrera Stars In A New Romantic Horror-Comedy On October 25

Despite her sudden departure from the “Scream” franchise last November, Melissa Barrera remains one of Hollywood’s current Scream Queens and an actress on the rise. And while Radio Silence‘s “Abigail” didn’t stun critics, maybe “Your Monster” will. The Sundance selection hits theaters next month: not quite a horror movie, but more of a genre-blender about a struggling actress who finds a monster living in her closer.

Saturday Night” actor Tommy Dewey co-stars with Barrera in the film, which hits theaters just in time for Halloween. Read on for an official synopsis from Vertical Entertainment:

“Your Monster” tells the story of the soft-spoken actor Laura Franco (Melissa Barrera), who is dumped by her longtime boyfriend (Edmund Donovan) while recovering from surgery and retreats to her childhood home to recover. With her future looking bleak, insult is added to injury when Laura discovers her ex is staging a musical that she helped him develop. But out of these gut-wrenching life changes emerges a monster (Tommy Dewey) with whom she finds a connection, encouraging Laura to follow her dreams, open her heart and fall in love with her inner rage.

Edmund Donovan, Kayla Foster, and Meghann Fahy also star in “Your Monster.”

Caroline Lindy writes and directs “Your Monster,” her feature directorial debut based on her 2019 short of the same name. Lindy also produces the film with Kayla Foster, Kira Carstensen, Melanie Donkers, and Shannon Reilly.

“Your Monster” had its world premieres at Sundance back in January, where it received favorable marks from critics. Vertical acquired distribution rights to the film in March.
