Got a Tip?

Zoe Kravitz To Do Her Best John Cusack In Disney’s Upcoming ‘High Fidelity’ Series

The upcoming, still untitled, Disney streaming service has been making news without so much as a release date. There’s word that the service will feature more live-action remakes of famous Disney animated films, a live-action “Star Wars” series, and multiple TV projects featuring characters we love from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But perhaps most interesting of all is the idea that the streaming service is rebooting the 2000 film “High Fidelity” as a series. And now, we know who will take over the John Cusack role as the ultimate music fan.

When you think John Cusack-esque actors, Zoe Kravitz is probably not on the top of that list. Hell, she’s probably somewhere around #1,503,205 on that list. But despite her apparent lack of Cusack-ness, Kravitz has landed the lead role on the “High Fidelity” series. She will portray the record store owner obsessed with all things music and pop culture, according to Variety.

In an interesting twist of fate, Zoe Kravitz has a bit of “High Fidelity” street cred to her name. Well, by blood, at least. Back in 2000, her mother Lisa Bonet had a role in the Cusack classic. So, if anything, Kravitz has that going for her.

Obviously, people are going to immediately judge the casting as shocking and wrong, based on Kravitz gender, but the real question for many fans is how Disney is going to adapt the show for their platform. While “High Fidelity” wasn’t a Tarantino film, the movie does feature its fair share of adult language and situations. Oh, and how will Disney add its own brand to the mix? Let’s not have an episode devoted to the music of the animated films, okay? Please?

Well, it appears that this “High Fidelity” series will be coming sooner than we anticipated and will most likely debut sometime in 2019. Of course, we need Disney to officially announce the streaming service, first.
