To date, the only film Casey Affleck has directed is the infamous mockumentary “I’m Still Here,” but it hasn’t been for lack of trying. The actor and writer has lined up a handful of projects over the years to helm, including “Far Bright Star” (which would reunite him with Joaquin Phoenix) and a biopic about baseball player Josh Hamilton. However, the one that looks to be moving forward is something we wouldn’t have expected from Affleck.
Pre-production will begin this fall on “Light Of My Life,” a survival drama in which Affleck would direct and star, playing a father who is “hunted in a post-pandemic world” with his tweenage daughter. Casting is underway for the latter role, with Affleck directing from his own script. And as surprising as this sounds, we’re sure Affleck has his own twist on what sounds like some potent genre material.
Teddy Schwarzman (“The Imitation Game,” “Gold“) is producing, adding some shine the project, and we’re certainly excited to see what Affleck puts together for his return behind the camera. [Variety/Showbiz 411]
