Eddie Vedder Has Written A Song For The New Season Of 'Twin Peaks'

With each tiny update, the excitement for “Twin Peaks” only grows. We already knew Eddie Vedder would be making an appearance in the show, and now we know he’ll be contributing to the soundtrack, as well. With Pearl Jam prepping for a November tour, the frontman lined up a few solo shows, including last weekend’s Ohana Fest.

During the festival, Vedder premiered a new song that we now know is part of the soundtrack. The track, called “Out of Sand,” is definitely “Twin Peaks”-y. With lines like “offered the hand of a disembodied man” and “dead by dessert, victim or witness,” it has David Lynch written all over it.

Also worth noting is the cover of the record, which reveals the tune was recorded by Jack White’s Third Man Studios. White isn’t listed in the cast, but it seems pretty fitting that he’d be involved, even in a small way. The date on the record is also interesting. It’s listed as June 10, 2016, which is 25 years to the day since the finale of Season 2 aired.eddie1

Season 3 is set to premiere on Showtime sometime in 2017, but the exact date hasn’t been announced. At least we have 2 seasons to re-watch on Netflix until then. See the full lyrics and a video of Vedder performing the song below. [One Perfect Shot]

Can’t climb to heaven on the cross
one big promise drained the blood from my heart
Came a message in the dark
offered the hand of a disembodied man
While I still had the chance
but now its gone, gone
and I am who I am
who I was will never be again
running out of sand
I stare at my reflection to the bone
blurred eyes look back at me… full of blank sympathy so, so close
right roads not taken, fortunes forsaken
dropped like a fossil in stone
a drunk octopus wants to fight
fearful of dreams, there’ll be no sleep tonight
fine at dinner, dead by dessert
victim or witness, we’re gonna get hurt
fragile existence, with echoes of wrath
i can’t stop the bleeding nor the tears from thine eye
there’s another is somewhere w/ much better lives
With God as our witness but he won’t testify
Oh now its gone..gone
and I am , who I am
Who I could’ve been I’ll never have the chance
Running out of sand
