Jamie Bell On Being "Bitterly Disappointed" By 'Fantastic Four'

Following the disastrous reception to 2015’s failed “Fantastic Four” reboot, a lot of the players involved kept a stiff upper lip. Both Kate Mara and Miles Teller said they would return to make another instalment. Meanwhile, Toby Kebbell said fans were right to be disappointed, but praised director Josh Trank‘s darker vision of the movie that didn’t making it out of the editing bay. However, not everyone saw the silver lining.

Jamie Bell is doing the rounds for “6 Days,” and speaking with the The L.A. Times, he gets candid about the blockbuster, and says that despite aiming to make something great, things went awry.

“There were several things on that movie I was clearly not privy to because I’m just an actor and I just do my stuff on set. But with something like that, everything starts with the best of intentions. A production begins with the idea to make something that’s unique and original and with integrity,” he said. “I think the film really strived towards those goals. I don’t know what happened between the launch of the voyage and the arrival. I think we were all bitterly disappointed with that film. But that’s just the way it goes sometimes.”

Indeed, reports of on set misbehavoir by Trank and studio meddling plagued “Fantastic Four,” leaving fans to call on Marvel to rescue the property from 20th Century Fox (sorry, that’s not happening anytime soon). However, it’s safe to say that Bell is perhaps less willing than his co-stars to get involved if and when something should ever happen (again, not anytime soon; Fox is focused on their Doctor Doom” movie).
