With “Warcraft” now behind him, Duncan Jones has moved on from his dalliance with branded blockbuster vision and turned toward a deeply personal project that he’s been trying to make for years: “Mute.” And with cameras now rolling, one more actor has come along to join in on the fun.

The Leftovers” and “The Girl On The Train” star Justin Theroux has joined Alexander Skarsgard and Paul Rudd in “Mute.” The Netflix production follows Leo (Skarsgard), a mute bartender searching for his girlfriend in the year 2052 in Berlin, while dueling with two rogue, villainous surgeons. Let’s also not forget, Sam Rockwell has been rumored for a cameo, with the movie said to exist in the same universe as Jones’ “Moon.” And with touches of science fiction and noir, this sounds like exactly the kind of movie fans of Jones for been waiting for him to make for a while now.

“ ‘Mute’ is an encapsulation of everything I am fascinated by; noir, science fiction, and unique people in trouble because of who and what they are. I’m delighted to be able to return to Berlin for the shoot, a place I lived for a period of time growing up, and I’m excited to be working with Netflix on a film that is so close to my heart,” the director said in a statement.

Exciting stuff, and let’s hope we get to see this one next year.
