New Video Essay Dives Into The Meaning Behind 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'

It’s official: “Star Wars: Episode VIII” is now “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” And now fanboys are working around the clock coming up with theories and speculation about what it all means. Who’s ‘The Last Jedi’ referring to? Luke? Rey? Both? Neither?

YouTube channel “Mr. Sunday Movies” has his theories and shares them in a new video essay. His theory is quite obvious — it’s probably Rey or both Rey and Luke.

It’s fun for fans to speculate on every bit of news about the “Star Wars” franchise, but honestly, the titles of the films have been fairly straightforward in the past. Seriously, go through each episode, and it’s clear what each is referring to. With that being said, and the fact that “Jedi” is also the plural form, the title is probably referring to both Rey and Luke. From everything we know already, they are, in fact, the last Jedi.

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is written and directed by Rian Johnson, and stars almost everyone from the last movie. It will surely dominate your life when it’s released December 15th. And quick bonus: Here’s a picture of Johnson in the editing bay, and yes, it looks like ‘The Last Jedi’ will have an opening crawl, even though it reportedly picks up right where ‘The Force Awakens’ left off.
