Today Zack Snyder‘s “true vision” for “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice” arrives digitally, with Warner Bros. hoping that this 3-hour, R-rated Ultimate Edition will see fanboys changing the narrative about the critically maligned movie. Indeed, the “meddlesome studio” narrative is an easy one to take, but let’s be totally real: the world doesn’t need more of Zack Snyder’s stormy, noisey ‘Batman v Superman.’ The major problems with the film (incoherent motivation for the villain, “Martha!,” flash-forwards) aren’t going to be solved with more story. If anything, a cleaner, shorter edit would probably be a better help.

But honestly, I’m not sure I can endure watching ‘Batman v Superman’ to compare notes, but more dedicated folks than myself certainly will, and they can get a taste with the first ten minutes of the movie. The changes aren’t monumental — we get a bit more time with Bruce Wayne’s unnecessary backstory — but it’s a reminder that it’s still intensely noisy, poorly cut, and pretty much a reminder why I will need serious convincing to give ‘Dawn Of Justice’ another go.
