First Trailer For Netflix's ‘ARQ’ Has Robbie Amell Living A Really Bad Day, Over And Over Again

No one wants to ever experience a home invasion. However, in the new Netflix original film, “ARQ,” Robbie Amell doesn’t have much of a choice. In the film, young engineer Renton, played by Amell, is stuck in a time loop where people come into his home and murder him as he tries to protect an experimental technology that may or may not have created the loop to begin with.

Netflix just released the first trailer for “ARQ,” which is written and directed by “Orphan Black” alum Tony Elliott, and in it, not much is really explained about what the ARQ actually is or why masked intruders are willing to murder for it, but the footage definitely looks promising. Along with Amell, the film also stars Rachael Taylor, who was last seen in another Netflix property, Marvel’s “Jessica Jones.” Here’s the official synopsis, which sheds a bit more light on the story:

In a future where corporations battle against sovereign nations over the last of the world’s energy supplies, young engineer Renton and Hannah find themselves attempting to save an experimental energy technology that could end the wars. The catch is, the technology has created a time loop that causes them to relive a deadly home invasion over and over again. They must figure out how to stop the time loop and come out of it alive.

“ARQ” is an official selection of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, so audiences will get their first taste of the film there. Those not lucky enough to attend the premiere will get their chance to watch the movie when it arrives on the streaming service on September 16th.
