There’s no shortage of exciting television shows released this February, kicking things off strong with the much-anticipated miniseries “Pam & Tommy” starring Lily James and Sebastian Stan as Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee. The month will see the return of Shonda Rhimes, two series finales, an off-kilter and unexpected comedy series starring Will Arnett, and science fiction miniseries, which look to be the next big shows to dominate the discourse.
February will also see the return of HBO’s “Raised by Wolves” and Netflix’s “Raising Dion” along with the fourth season of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and mid-season premieres for “The Walking Dead” and “Star Trek Discovery.”
“Pam & Tommy“
One of the buzzier series released this month, “Pam & Tommy,” tells the infamous story of Pamela Anderson (Lily James) and Tommy Lee (Sebastian Stan) after their honeymoon sex tape is stolen and sold to the public. The series, created by “I, Tonya” director Craig Gillespie, aims to further elaborate on a case that was too quickly glossed over when it was first taking place, with Anderson, in particular, having to weather a misogynistic media storm. Seth Rogen, Nick Offerman, and Taylor Schilling also star in the series, with later episodes directed by Hannah Fidell and Lake Bell. Our critic wrote, “When it’s all over, it’s easier to appreciate “Pam & Tommy” as a metaphor for how the public responded to the tape in the first place.”
Release Date: The series premieres on February 2 on Hulu.
“Murderville“
The latest Will Arnett (“Bojack Horseman“) comedy looks to surprise viewers again – this time with improv. Each episode will star a different guest star and tasks them with finding the suspected murderer and unearthing the motives. Based on the British series of the same name, the twist is that the guest stars won’t be given a script beforehand and must improvise as the episode unravels. Arnett will star as Detective Terry Seattle in every episode with guests, including Annie Murphy, Conan O’Brien, Ken Jeong, Kumail Nanjiani, Marshawn Lynch, and Sharon Stone.
Release Date: Season 1 premieres on February 3 on Netflix.
“Reacher”
The latest adaptation of the popular series written by Lee Child, “Reacher,” follows the titular Jack Reacher, a veteran military police investigator who has recently entered civilian life when he is falsely accused of murder. Alan Ritchson stars with a supporting cast, including Malcolm Goodwin, Willia Fitzgerald, and Bruce McGill. Nick Santora (“Prison Break,” “Law & Order“) is the showrunner.
Release Date: Season 1 premieres on February 4 on Amazon Prime.
“Suspicion“
Based on the TV show “False Flag” the thriller series “Suspicion” centers on the story of four seemingly ordinary British citizens who are all suspects in a kidnapping case of the son of a prominent American businesswoman because they were all at the hotel he was staying in on the night in question. Uma Thurman, Kunal Nayyar, Noah Emmerich, Georgina Campbell, and Elyes Gabel star in the adaptation. Rob Williams, best known for “Man in the High Castle, ” is acting as showrunner and executive producer for the eight-episode series.”
Release Date: Season 1 premieres on February 4 on Apple TV+.
“The Girl Before“
Gugu Mbatha-Raw and David Oyelowo star in “The Girl Before” from series creator JP Delaney who also wrote the book the show is adapted from. The four-episode series will follow the story of Jane (played by Mbatha-Raw). She is given a chance to move into a beautiful and minimalist home designed by well-renowned architect Edward (Oyelowo.) The catch, however, is that Jane must follow the particular house rules created by Edward, which leads her to a shocking discovery about the previous tenant. Jessica Plummer and Ben Hardy also star.
Release Date: The series premieres on February 10 on HBO Max.
