LGBTQ+ critics love “The Substance.” We mean, really love “The Substance.” Coraline Fargeat’s Best Picture nominee took four honors from GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics’ 2025 Dorian Awards including Film of the Year, Director of the Year, and Demi Moore for Performance of the Year. The screen icon also took the Timeless Star Award – essentially the organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Other winners included “I Saw the TV Glow” taking LGBTQ Film of the Year and its director, Jane Schoenbrun, winning LGBTQ Screenplay of the Year. ️Justin Kuritzkes recieved the overall Screenplay of the Year award for “Challengers.”
Ariana Grande beat out a super competitive field for the Supporting Performance of the Year for “Wicked.”
“I’m Still Here” won the Non-English Film of the Year while “Emilia Perez” took the LGBTQ Non-English Film of the Year among a questionable field of nominees. “Flow” won Animated Film of the Year while “Will & Harper” took both Documentary of the Year and LGBTQ Documentary of the Year.
“Problemista” won Unsung Film of the Year.
Traditonally, the Dorian Awards are celebrated with a toast in Los Angeles. That was canceled this season out of respect for the recovery from the Los Angeles wildfires.
