12 September TV Shows To Watch: ‘Black Rabbit,’ ‘The Lowdown,’ ‘The Savant’ & More

There are two major trends on the September television schedule: the return of fan favorite series and the continued, now familiar trend of movie stars gracing the television screens. The returns are major, enduring returns too, with series such as “The Morning Show,” “Only Murders in the Building,” and “Slow Horses” premiering their fourth and fifth seasons.

Elsewhere, there’s the nostalgia-fueled spin-off series “The Paper” and fellow spin-off “Gen V” premiering along with the last four episodes of Season 2 of “Wednesday.” There’s also the arrival of new series starring Jude Law, Toni Collette, Robin Wright, Ethan Hawke, and more.

Wednesday Season 2 Part 2” 
Following the cliffhanger at the end of Part 1, “Wednesday Season 2 Part 2” returns to answer some questions while dealing with a comatose protagonist. Jenna Ortega stars as Wednesday, who, while recovering from severe injuries, continues to seek the truth about the threat haunting her friend, Enid (Emma Meyers). Bianca Barclay, Moosa Mostafa, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luiz Guzmán, and Steve Buscemi star, with appearances from Lady Gaga and the return of Gwendoline Christie
Release Date: Season 2 Part 2 premieres September 3 on Netflix. 

The Paper
Created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman (“Nathan For You”), “The Paper” serves as the spin-off series twenty years in the making for “The Office.” The series follows the new Editor-in-Chief of the Toledo Truth Teller and his team of rag-tag journalists who volunteer their time to make the historical paper relevant again. Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key, and Oscar Nunez star. 
Release Date: Season 1 premieres September 4 on Peacock.

Only Murders In the Building” 
Our favorite trio of true-crime podcasting sleuths returns for the fifth season of “Only Murders in the Building.” Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez all return as the three characters begin to look into the murder of one of the building’s more notable characters, teased at the end of Season 4, which will push them further into the underbelly of New York. Returning and new cast members include Meryl Streep, Michal Cyril Creighton, Jackie Hoffman, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Logan Lerman, Renee Zellweger, and more. 
Release Date: Season 5 premieres September 9 on Hulu. 

The Girlfriend
Robin Wright directs and stars in the latest thriller for Amazon, “The Girlfriend.” Based on the novel of the same name, the series follows Wright as Laura, as her life begins to unravel when her son brings home a new girlfriend whom she distrusts. Olivia Cooke and Laurie Davidson also star. 
Release Date: The series premieres September 10 on Amazon.
