“A Different Man”
Directed and written by Aaron Schimberg, “A Different Man” first premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. The film follows an aspiring actor, Edward, who has neurofibromatosis and undergoes a procedure to transform his appearance. However, he soon becomes fixated on another actor with the same condition and is now playing Edward in a production of his former life. Sebastian Stan, Renate Reinsve, and Adam Pearson star. “Megalopolis”
From director Francis Ford Coppola comes his passion project, the science fiction drama “Megalopolis.” A long-gestating project for the director, the film takes place in an imagined United States and follows Cesar Catilina (Adam Driver), a visionary architect who clashes with the mayor (Giancarlo Esposito) about how best to rebuild the metropolis of New Rome. The sprawling cast includes Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Laurence Fishburne, and more. (Read our review)

“Lee”
Kate Winslet stars in “Lee,” which tracks the story of photographer Elizabeth ‘Lee’ Miller, a fashion model who became an acclaimed war correspondent during World War II. Ellen Kuras directs in her feature film debut. The supporting cast includes Marion Cotillard, Andrea Riseborough, Andy Samberg, Noémie Merlant, Josh O’Connor, and Alexander Skarsgård. “The Wild Robot”
Based on the book by the same name from author Peter Brown, “The Wild Robot” is the latest animated movie from DreamWorks. The film, directed by Chris Sanders (“Lilo & Stitch,” “How to Train Your Dragon,”) follows a shipwrecked robot who must learn to adapt to its new surroundings while building relationships with the native animals on the deserted island. Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Mark Hamill, and Catherine O’Hara star.

Elsewhere, the documentary “Will & Harper” hits Netflix on September 27. It follows actor Will Ferrell and his close friend of 30 years, Harper Steele, who embark on a road trip following Harper’s announcement that she’s coming out as a trans woman. Netflix also has the film “Rez Ball” out September 27, which follows a Native American high school basketball team from New Mexico that is seeking to become state champions. Halle Berry stars in the survival horror film, “Never Let Go,” from director Alexandre Aja (“Crawl,”) out September 20.
