Despite being a constant source of controversy since it’s debut a few years ago, Netflix just can’t get enough of “13 Reasons Why.” The popular series has conquered social media campaigns to get it canceled and endless headlines about how it endangers the mental health of young people and is now entering its third season. But instead of handling (or mishandling, if you believe reports) the issue of suicide, the series is turning into a bit of a murder mystery.
As seen in the new teaser trailer for “13 Reasons Why” Season 3, the high school kids aren’t so much concerned about suicide as they are with who murdered one of their classmates. And it appears that there are plenty of people that have, uh, reasons to commit the crime. It would make sense that the series would want to shed its problematic issues with the new season and turn itself into more of your typical YA soapy drama after being the target of so much hate due to its controversial storyline involving the suicide of one of the characters. Perhaps, the change of pace into a more typical murder mystery is just what Netflix and the cast and crew needed.
However, that’s not the only big news. Netflix has also announced that Season 4, which is currently in production, will serve as the last for the series, marking the end of yet another major show for the streaming service. We’ll have to see if the next two seasons will prove that Netflix had the right idea about keeping “13 Reasons Why” going for this long.
