De Humani Corporis Fabrica

Exploring what lies beneath the surface with coverage from five hospitals in northern Paris hospitals, it’s a grueling watch, with our critic writing, “…tests our levels of comfort in accepting we are essentially all decaying entities made of organic material.”

Chevalier
Having made a splash on the festival circuit in 2022, “Chevalier,” directed by Stephen WilliamsKelvin Harrison Jr. stars as Chevalier de Saint-Georges, a French-Caribbean violinist and composer who rose to fame through his musical prodigy. Lucy Boynton and Samara Weaving also star, with a script by Stefani Robinson. Our critic singled out Harrison’s performance, calling it “electric.” 
Release Date: In theaters April 21 via Searchlight Pictures.

Carmen
Recent Oscar nominee Paul Mescal stars alongside “Scream 5” star Melissa Barrera in the musical adaptation, “Carmen,” directed by “Black Swan” choreographer Benjamin Millepied. The film premiered at last year’s TIFF and is a strong showcase for both performers. This modern-day iteration is a retelling of the opera by Georges Bizet, adapted by Millepied, Loïc Barrére, and Alexander Dinelaris Jr.
Release Date: In theaters in NYC and LA on April 21 via Sony Pictures.

Beau is Afraid
Ari Aster (“Hereditary,” “Midsommar”) has made a name for himself through his approach to the horror medium, stemming many discussions about the genre itself. In “Beau is Afraid,” he takes his typical energy and spins it into what looks like a warped comedy starring the always fabulous Joaquin PhoenixPatti LuPoneAmy RyanNathan LaneParker Posey, and more also star in this surrealist horror comedy.
