Got a Tip?

2017 Golden Globes Predictions: Will ‘La La Land,’ ‘Moonlight’ Or ‘Manchester’ Rule?

Best TV Series, Drama
“The Crown”
“Game Of Thrones”
“Stranger Things”
“This Is Us”
“Westworld”

Winner: “The Crown”
If not: “This Is Us”
Upset: “Westworld”

Lowdown: I mean, how the HFPA picks their TV winners is always a head-scratcher. They usually go with a relative new show and one of significant pedigree. Our gut says “The Crown,” but they still haven’t given it to “Game Of Thrones” yet, and “This Is Us” would be another new “hot” show that would keep their reputation as trendmakers alive.

Best TV Series, Comedy/Musical
“Atlanta”
“Black-ish”
“Mozart In The Jungle”
“Transparent”
“Veep”

Winner: “Veep”
If not: “Mozart In The Jungle”
Upset: “Atlanta”

Lowdown: This is the third time they have nominated “Veep” and it didn’t take the top prize previously. “Mozart” stunned the room (and the audience) last year, taking the prize over expected winner “Transparent.” After a stellar season and a crazy election, we expect “Veep” to finally win, but could critics favorite “Atlanta” surprise?

Best TV Miniseries or Movie
“American Crime”
“The Dresser”
“The Night Manager”
“The Night Of”
The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”

Winner: “People v. O.J. Simpson”
If not: Nope
Upset: Nada

Lowdown: The HFPA won’t let Ryan Murphy down.

Best Actor, TV Comedy
Anthony Anderson, “Black-ish”
Gael García Bernal, “Mozart In The Jungle”
Donald Glover, “Atlanta”
Nick Nolte, “Graves”
Jeffrey Tambor, “Transparent”

Winner: Donald Glover
If not: Jeffrey Tambor
Upset: Gael García Bernal

Lowdown: Again, the HFPA love to be out in front before all the other TV honors, and rewarding Glover first seems like an easy choice. Former winners Bernal and Tambor could also find themselves in the winners circle again.

Best Actress, Comedy
Rachel Bloom, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, “Veep”
Sarah Jessica Parker, “Divorce”
Issa Rae, “Insecure”
Gina Rodriguez, “Jane The Virgin”
Tracee Ellis Ross, “Black-ish”

Winner: Sarah Jessica Parker
If not: Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Upset: Issa Rae

Lowdown: There hasn’t been a repeat winner for the same show in this category since 2009. In theory, that means Rodriguez and Bloom — the past two winners — are out. Shockingly, Louis-Dreyfus has never won here for “Veep” (she’s won everything else), but we’re going with Parker, who won four times for “Sex And The City.”

Best Actor, TV Drama
Rami Malek, “Mr. Robot”
Bob Odenkirk, “Better Call Saul”
Matthew Rhys, “The Americans”
Liev Schreiber, “Ray Donovan”
Billy Bob Thornton, “Goliath”

Winner: Rami Malek
If not: Bob Odenkirk
Upset: Billy Bob Thornton

Lowdown: Intriguingly, none of the series these actors appear on were nominated. Our guess is the HFPA reward Malek for not giving him the honor last year (the show won Best Drama instead).

Best Actress, TV Drama
Caitriona Balfe, “Outlander”
Claire Foy, “The Crown”
Keri Russell, “The Americans”
Winona Ryder, “Stranger Things”
Evan Rachel Wood, “Westworld”

Winner: Claire Foy
If not: Evan Rachel Wood
Upset: Winona Ryder

Lowdown: Foy or Wood are basically too close to call, but we’re giving the edge to the actor on the more critically acclaimed show.

Best Supporting Actor
Sterling K. Brown, “The People v. O.J. Simpson”
Hugh Laurie, “The Night Manager”
John Lithgow, “The Crown”
Christian Slater, “Mr. Robot”
John Travolta, “The People v. O.J. Simpson”

Winner: Sterling K. Brown
If not: John Lithgow
Upset: John Travolta

Lowdown: The HFPA love a comeback and that means Travolta is a bigger threat here than many realize. It should come down to Brown and Lithgow, with the latter having an excellent shot at taking it.

Best Supporting Actress
Olivia Colman, “The Night Manager”
Lena Headey, “Game of Thrones”
Chrissy Metz, “This Is Us”
Mandy Moore, “This Is Us”
Thandie Newton, “Westworld”

Winner: Thandie Newton
If not: Mandy Moore
Upset: Olivia Coleman

Lowdown: Newton is the fan favorite of “Westworld” and something tells us the HFPA know it. The “This Is Us” duo should cancel each other out, but if one pulls through, it will likely be Moore. Colman is the respected British vet the HFPA often gravitate toward.

Best Actor, Mini-Series or TV Movie
Riz Ahmed, “The Night Of”
Bryan Cranston, “All The Way”
Tom Hiddleston, “The Night Manager”
John Turturro, “The Night Of”
Courtney B. Vance, “The People v. O.J. Simpson”

Winner: Courtney B. Vance
If not: Riz Ahmed
Upset: Tom Hiddleston

Lowdown: Ahmed has a shot, but Vance should win his third honor after the Emmys and Critics Choice Awards.

Best Actress, Mini-Series or TV Movie
Felicity Huffman, “American Crime”
Riley Keough, “The Girlfriend Experience”
Sarah Paulson, “The People v. O.J. Simpson”
Charlotte Rampling, “London Spy”
Kerry Washington, “Confirmation”

Winner: Sarah Paulson
If not: Nope
Upset: Nada

Lowdown: You’re kidding, right?
