'21' Soundtrack Features LCD Soundsystem, Peter Bjorn & John, MGMT, Mark Ronson, Broadcast And More

LCD Soundsystem have composed the new song, “Big Ideas” for the “high stakes action adventure” film “21according to a press release (via Pitchfork). Yes, composed a new track; suprisingly for a film like this, it’s not a throwaway or leftover song.

The soundtrack also features a Soulwax remix of The Rolling Stones classic, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,”and cuts by Broadcast, Mark Ronson, UNKLE, Peter Bjorn & John, Rihanna and more.

The film is about evidently inspired by the true story of the how MIT students — and how they took Vegas for millions. Faaantastic. “21”features Jim Sturgess (star of Beatles musical “Across The Universe”), Kate Bosworth, Laurence Fishburne and Kevin Spacey, and opens nationwide on Friday, March 28 (though it will premiere at the SXSW film fest on March 7). The soundtrack is due in stores March 18.

The film’s trailer features Spoon’s “My Mathematical Mind,” a track and indie-band that are nearly ubiquitous in film trailers of late. We need to do a running tally soon. Whoever’s liscensing their material of late is pretty shameless; they’re material is everywhere (it also features the Doors’ awful, “Break On Through”).
