Got a Tip?

’28 Days Later’ & ‘Sunshine’ Writer Alex Garland Getting Ready For ‘Logan’s Run’

If only more reboots got this kind of talent around it. At one point attached to Bryan Singer, the 3D reboot of “Logan’s Run” now has Carl Erik Rinsch the Ridley Scott protegé and commercial director behind the camera. Rinsch is most notable for creating the short “The Gift” earlier this year that got everyone talking. But even more intriguing is the man who will be going back to the source material, the 1967 novel by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson, to bring the new version to the big screen.

Alex Garland is in negotiations to pen the screenplay which has now ratcheted up our attention on this project. The writer of “28 Days Later,” “Sunshine” and Mark Romanek’s upcoming “Never Let Me Go” is a great scribe who manages to find deeper notes in seemingly simple setups. It gives us hope that that “Logan’s Run” won’t be as brainless as we first suspected it might be.

We suspect that Warner Bros. are eyeing to get the film into production in 2011, perhaps a release into the already insanely crowded 2012 calendar (“Batman 3,” “The Avengers,” “Battleship,” “Star Trek 2,” “Spider-Man” and growing). Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman are producing the film.
