Got a Tip?

Common Cast In Upcoming PG-13 Version of ‘Terminator 4’

Socially unconscious (ha) rapper Common is working at a fast clip. Later this year, the lyricist will release his 10th album Invincible Summer, but that’s not slowing down his burgeoning acting career. The Chi-town rapper (now a Brooklynite) has been cast in “Terminator 4” which is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22nd 2009.

Common, aka Lonnie Rashid Lynn Jr., will star as a freedom fighter in the inner circle of protagonist John Connor who will be played by Christian Bale. The full title of the project is “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.”

McG, the over-caffeinated director of “Charlie’s Angels” will direct the story about a 30-something Connor (Bale), who leads the remaining human race rebels in a battle against the sentient machines. Paul “Hack” Haggis is one of the co-writers of the film.

Common most recently had roles in “American Gangster,” “Smokin’ Aces,” and the already come-and-gone “Street Kings” with Keanu Reeves and rapper The Game. He had been cast in the now defunct “Justice League” film as Green Lantern, but that project is now dead in the water. Much before ‘T4,’ the rapper will been seen next in this summer’s “Wanted” alongside Angelina Jolie.

Much to the chagrin to fans of the ‘Terminator’ franchise it was recently announced that the film would seek a PG-13 rating to appeal to more audiences rather than a gritter and more raw R-rating.
